Casual America

I found that most people in here usually wear a casual clothes, even training clothes. At least not that shock to me as a person who like to wear a casual things, but in Korea many people espcially university students wear more formal clothes. They never use giant backpack and they call someone who use that kind of thing as "study-warm". However, I am getting used to wear a training cloth. I started to arrange my formal cloth like blouse with ribbon and trouser, and trench coat into my closet and to buy things like dirty orange colored longhorn T-shirt at the CO-OP.
I may keep wearing this casual clothes even when I come back to Korea. I am just nervous that I would wear a most casual T-shirt and pajama when I go to an university. :)

Culture shock-

In Korea people are not willing to talk to each other a lot when they are eating on the same table. It is regarded as not polite that someone talk a lot when they are eating. But in here, it was kind of culture shock to talk every thing on the table. People in here enjoy talking a lot while they eating. They ask about from light things such as how they are doing in their daily life to sort of heavy topics like how their dating are going, etc. The first time I was invited to my friend's house for dinner, I was embarrased by their so many questions about my all kinds of doing things.I guess this cultural difference came from different concept that signifies their life style. Now I am getting used to be asked on the table, which means that I am getting familiar with american culture.

The way we communicate-Eye contact

One of the important things that we use when we communicate with other people is eye contact. As it is important in every culture, also it can make culture shock by the way of its development in its own culture. In Korea, straight eye contact with order person is regarded as a rude behavior. As I am used to avoid eye contact with others those who live here in U.S, when I talk with them, I had to try change my concept i had learned from my culture.
