Culture shock-
In Korea people are not willing to talk to each other a lot when they are eating on the same table. It is regarded as not polite that someone talk a lot when they are eating. But in here, it was kind of culture shock to talk every thing on the table. People in here enjoy talking a lot while they eating. They ask about from light things such as how they are doing in their daily life to sort of heavy topics like how their dating are going, etc. The first time I was invited to my friend's house for dinner, I was embarrased by their so many questions about my all kinds of doing things.I guess this cultural difference came from different concept that signifies their life style. Now I am getting used to be asked on the table, which means that I am getting familiar with american culture.

This is exactly the kind of thing that can cause people to feel uncomfortable with each other. The more we know about each other, the more comfortable we will feel (I hope!).
ReplyDeleteOh really!
ReplyDeleteIn my country, almost all family members do not have time to talk to each other, so we talk a lot when we eating (but we are never allowed to talk when there is some food in our mouth. It is so impolite). I think it a food way to talk when we eating and talking together.
And I saw you talk a lot when you were eating at the same table with other Korean:).
Hihi, I am just kidding!
